Who We Are: Zacariah Bell

Not Just a Martial Art, a Way of Life

Technology Educator, White Belt

I’ve been training 1 1/2 years. I decided to start jiu-jitsu when watching UFC with my mates and seeing Khabib Nurmagomedov literally grapple people into a pulp. Such dominance and control and technique. It looked immensely hard and also effortless. Plus I like to test my resilience physically and mentally and BJJ seemed like a real long-game challenge.

My biggest challenge with jiu-jitsu is taking rest days, I love it so much that I struggle to get a rest day in during the week!
The challenge that is presented to me every time that I step on the mat keeps me coming back, seeing and feeling progression when furthering my technique and learning something everyday from Hayden, Trevor and the crew at Axis.

I have fallen in love with this sport, so much that I have created my own brand! Kismet BJJ supplies ethically made Gi’s, owned and operated in NZ with superior construction and killer aesthetics. Check us out on Facebook!

BJJ has offered me a way to keep in good shape, friends, an outlet for my mental health and a way for me to learn every single time that I step on the mat. It is as important as sleeping for me now!
